Jewelry Care
Jewelry Care
A little everyday care helps keep your favorite pieces looking beautiful. Follow the guidance below for your jewelry's material, along with any specific care instructions on the product page.
Everyday Care
- Remove your jewelry before swimming, showering, exercising, or using household cleaning products.
- Avoid contact with perfume, lotions, cosmetics, chlorine, and harsh chemicals. Let skincare products and perfume dry before putting on your jewelry.
- Handle your pieces gently and protect them from knocks, bending, and friction.
- After wearing, gently wipe your jewelry with a clean, soft cloth before storing it.
- Store pieces separately in a soft pouch or lined jewelry box, in a dry place, to help prevent scratches and tangling.
Gold Plated & Gold Vermeil Jewelry
Gold-plated and gold vermeil pieces have a layer of gold over a base metal. This surface finish can gradually wear with use. Exposure to moisture, sweat, chemicals, and friction can affect how long the finish lasts.
- Keep your pieces dry and remove them before washing your hands, showering, swimming, or exercising.
- Clean gently with a soft, non-abrasive cloth.
- Do not use silver-polishing cloths, abrasive cleaners, or metal polish on plated or vermeil surfaces, as these may damage the gold layer.
- Avoid soaking your jewelry or using ultrasonic cleaners unless we have confirmed that the method is suitable for your specific piece.
Unplated Sterling Silver
Sterling silver can naturally tarnish over time. Gentle cleaning and dry storage help maintain its appearance.
- For plain, unplated sterling silver, use a polishing cloth intended for silver and follow the cloth manufacturer's instructions.
- If your piece has stones, an intentionally darkened finish, or another surface treatment, contact us before using polishing products.
- Keep silver away from chlorine, harsh chemicals, and prolonged moisture.
- Store it separately in a dry, soft pouch or lined jewelry box.
If your sterling silver piece is gold plated or gold vermeil, follow the gold-plated care instructions instead.
Solid Gold & Stone Set Jewelry
Solid gold and stone-set pieces also benefit from gentle handling. The safest cleaning method depends on the stones, settings, and finish of your particular design.
- Use a soft cloth for routine surface care.
- Avoid knocks and pressure on settings, and do not wear jewelry during activities that could catch or bend it.
- Do not assume every gemstone is suitable for soaking, steam cleaning, or ultrasonic cleaning. Contact us if you are unsure how to clean your piece.
- If a stone feels loose or a setting appears damaged, stop wearing the piece and contact us for advice.
Smart Ring Covers & Jackets
Care for your cover according to its jewelry material, separately from the care instructions for your smart ring. Your smart ring's water-resistance rating does not apply to the jewelry worn over it.
- Follow the fitting, removal, and compatibility instructions on the individual product page.
- Do not force a cover onto a ring or bend it to adjust the fit. If it does not fit as expected, contact us before continuing to use it.
- Keep the cover clean and dry, and avoid trapping moisture or residue between the cover and your smart ring.
- Follow your smart ring manufacturer's care and usage guidance for the device itself.
Repairs & Alterations
Please contact us before having your jewelry resized, repaired, or altered by another jeweler. Alterations may affect its finish, construction, stone settings, or, for smart ring covers, its fit and compatibility.
